Lets talk about our Chakras. What are they and what is the significance of them?
We are all energy.
Everything is energy.
Lets pause at that thought….
Do you feel you have a good instinct, a sixth sense, strong gut feelings? Do you feel you can sense a situation is not good or right without being told? Do you often have/witness something happen that you knew was going to happen? Can you sense when a person is off, lost, just not themselves? Do you often meet someone and instinctively know that they are amazing or the complete opposite? Can you ever tell this just by looking at someone? This one is for females, do you find your menstruation pattern aligns with your friends when you spend a lot of time together? So again we repeat. WE ARE ALL ENERGY. EVERYTHING IS ENERGY! Welcome to the energy centre of the world that is inside YOU! How exciting!! Are you aware of your own abilities?
The knowledge of the Chakras dates back to 600BC (these dates differ depending on where you research). What really matters is that this is a very, very old Indian belief system followed by Yogi masters and healers the world over for centuries. The Chakras are the energy systems that run up your spine starting at the base and going all the way to the crown of your head. It’s time to step away from the madness and raise our vibrations and radiate as much positive high energy as possible…..
1. Root Chakra (Muladhara)
The Muladhara, or Root Chakra, represents our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded. When the root chakra is open, we feel confident in our ability to withstand challenges and stand on our own two feet. When it’s blocked, we feel threatened, as if we’re standing on unstable ground.
To open your root chakra find a quiet space, light your candle, sit quietly, back straight, legs crossed and close your eyes. Let the tips of your thumb and index finger touch. Repeat the sound “LAMMMM” as you focus on grounding yourself. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become.
2. Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana)
The Swadhisthana, or Sacral Chakra is based at the lower abdomen, about 2 inches below the navel. Considering its proximity to the reproductive system, it’s no surprise that this governs our creativity, emotions and sexual energy. Those with a blocked sacral chakra could feel a lack creativity and low libido.
To open your Sacral Chakra Find a quiet space, light your candle sit comfortably on your knees with your back straight.
Place both hands on your knees, palms up. Cup your hands, and gently touch your thumbs.
Focus on the sacral chakra.
Repeats the sound VAMMMMMM. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become
3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
The third chakra, the solar plexus chakra, speaks to your ability to be confident and in control of your life. If your solar plexus chakra is blocked, you might feel overwhelming amounts of shame and self-doubt, with bouts of anger, stubbornness or mood swings. Those with open sacral chakras are free to express their true selves with confidence and self-love.
To open your Solar Plexus Chakra find a quiet space, light your candle, sit comfortably on your knees, with your back straight.
Place your hands in front of your stomach just below the solar plexus. Make sure your fingers are joined from the top and all point away from you. Cross your thumbs and straighten your fingers (this is important).
Focus on the navel chakra.
Repeat the sound RAMMMMM. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become
4. Heart Chakra (Anahata)
The Anahata, or heart chakra, is the bridge between the lower chakras (associated with materiality) and the upper chakras (associated with spirituality). As the name suggests, this chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love—from others and ourselves. Someone with a blocked heart chakra will have difficulty fully opening up to the people in their life. If someone’s heart is open, they can experience deep compassion and empathy.
To open your heart Chakra. Find a quiet space, light your candle set your intention. Sit cross-legged.
Let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch. Put your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of your chest, where your heart would be.
Concentrate on the heart chakra and chant the sound YAMMMMMM. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become.
5. Throat Chakra (Visshuddha)
The throat chakra is located right next to the thyroid glands. The throat chakra controls all aspects of communication and self-expression. A blockage in the throat chakra leads to miscommunication, an urge to isolate from loved ones, and even hormonal imbalances. To open your throat Chakra. Find a quiet space, light your candle, set your intention. Sit on your knees. Cross your fingers on the inside of your hand without your thumbs. Touch your thumbs from above and place your hands in front of your collarbones below your neck. Chant the word HAMMMMMM. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become.
6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
The third eye chakra rests on the forehead, just above where our eyebrows meet. It is responsible for the gut feelings and intuition that guide us through everyday life and our spirituality. It is the chakra of insight; of the ancient knowledge that the cosmos holds. A blockage in the third eye chakra makes us more susceptible to deceit and can also cause issues in our perception and focus.
To open your third eye, find a quiet space, light your candle. Set your intention. Sit cross-legged.
Bring your hands together in front of your chest. Fold all the fingers towards, except for your middle fingers, which meet and point outward. Join your thumbs as well.
Concentrate on the throat chakra.
Repeat the word “OMMMMMM”. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become
7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
The crown chakra is found at the top of our heads. It is considered the ultimate chakra and deepest connection to the divine can be found here. It is where our energy flows out and connects with the world’s energy at large. It is the seat of spiritual awareness and enlightenment.
To open your Crown Chakra is to reach levels of consciousness said to be reached by few. In this instance instead of chanting, we just listen, how often do we do this? Find a quiet space, light your candle and just be. Remember where thoughts go, energy flows. Think positive thoughts and visualise all that you want to feel or become. Allow yourself the idea that you could connect with the divine, to the world as a whole, how wonderful.
